Our Story of Love at First Sight…
Finding out we were pregnant with Liam was a huge shock to both my husband and myself, however we were both very eager and ready to meet our little man. Approximately 23 weeks into the pregnancy during an ultrasound it was noticed that Liam had quiet a bit of fluid in his bladder but nothing that seemed to alarming to the doctor at the time.
Then approximately week 30 another ultrasound was performed and Liam was now holding fluid in his bladder, ureters, and noticed that his kidneys were starting to obtain cysts. My husband and I were sent to Cincinnati for a plethora of tests and then we were sat down in a room with a whole bunch of doctors to try and relay the information that no parent wants to hear. This is when we learned that things for Liam were not going to be easy if he did make it through this. Liam was diagnosed with a UPJ (Ureteropelvic junction obstruction) is a blockage at the point where part of the kidney attaches to one of the tubes to the bladder (ureters). This blocks the flow of urine out of the kidney. Unfortunately due to the blockage and not being able to pee out my amniotic fluid, Liam had no way to promote his lung growth, and all of his organs became cystic.
I was in and out of the hospital (which I have no complaints whatsoever with Buffalo Women's and Children's Hospital) for monitoring. I delivered Liam on July 6, 2012 and my little angel passed the next day on July 7, 2012. Not a day goes by that I do not think of my Angel in the sky. My husband and I both have learned how to handle the grief as best as we can, and also help out our other children the best way that we can. Thank you for reading our story.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and learn about our baby who will only live on in our hearts… forever. We would like to ask that you help the organization that has helped us and helps so many others in their times of need.
All donations made to this page are made in loving memory of our baby gone too soon and will be used towards the WNYPBN’s Program.
