Our Story of Love at First Sight…

My nephew Jake Edward Hand was born sleeping on April 1, 2014. Jake's Mommy and Daddy are my sister Lisa and her husband Bret. After getting married in 2008 Lisa and Bret were very excited to start their family. After 2 miscarriages Lisa and Bret conceived Jake! At 28 weeks gestation they learned they had lost their sweet little boy. Bret was overseas at the time and flew home to be at Lisa's side as baby Jake was born sleeping. As an aunt and a sister I was clueless of what to do to help them. I couldn't bring Jake back to them. I have just tried to be there through this journey and support them in any way possible.

Lisa has since become very active in the community getting the word out about miscarriage and stillbirth. She started a small blog that has since bloomed into a known website (www.hopeafterhope.com). She is very active in support groups and different foundations to help men and women going through this journey.

I am honored to walk in the Buffalo Walk to Remember to celebrate the life of my nephew Jake!
